The children were provided with tea, and prizes weref plentiful, the parents providing these for the races. Before commencing tea the Rev. Mr. Ferry kindly presented the Martin Mci morial prizes, there being four for each school. The deceased gentleman has left a bequest, the interest of which j purchases these "prizes. The successful .children for Hira were: Winnie Flowar, Archie Bonnington, Dare Atkinson, and — Scnadden; for Hillside: Marjorie Wearing, Lyall Hodgson, Betty Boon, Gwen. McPike ; for Atawhai: Phil. Dodson, Nellie Dodson, Reg. Hall/ and Alma Barnes.' These are in order of merit, and each little recipient was heartily applauded by the scholars and friends.
