OPENING OF SEASON

The opening of the goif season took place on Saturday afternoon, and the beautiful wetither" attracted a large number of members and their friends. The links were in splendid order considering -the drynefes of the season. ' The attention ■to the greens during. the summer months should amply repay the club for the expenditure.-The--.season was formally declared opened by j"Lr A. Tosswill, the captain, who in the absence of the club president Mr J. H. Cock, drove the first ball, and in-the course of a nappy speech expressed the regret the members all felt-at the absence of the club's esteemed president Mr Cock. Ho referred to the excellent prospects of the club and tlie lar^e number oi new menbers, both men and ladies. With the excellent course and the ideal weather, the Nelson golf links should be the best in the Dominion. The cluh bad got through the four years cf war and members of the club had done their it *? -eir King and counfry. Se\'oraJ had paid the supreme sacrifice, Afternoon tea was provided.
