STOCK SHOW.

FINE EXHIBITION OF FRUIT. A ,

SUCCESSFULFUNCTION. j '

Stoke, as ever, has a remarkably fine display at its - Horticultural Show, the , apples in particular being of notables quality. The entries for'this year constitute a record, -while in all classes the average,of former years has' been well • maintained. The. Boys' Training Farm sent along a large entry in the vegetable , section, and their efforts were rewarded- ' with success.. The' cooking classes attracted big fields, and the judge commented most favourably on the general , quality of the exhibits. • In the fruit ■ novelties class, a piebald apple with the line of junction between two separate varieties distinctly, marked attracted much attention. The, prize was awarded to a twin Scarlet Summer. The war relics included Vevy pistols, tin hats, etc., and were objects of much remark. .. The show,-which is in aid of the Pub-' he-Hall Fund, will be continued to-day,' when a. number of competitions will be decided. CUT FLOWERS. ' . (Judge Mr. G. T. G. Kurtzhals.)
