PUBLIC WORKS 3000 SHORT

Wellington, April 10. The Minister of- Public Works said 'to-day that it was not his intention to go on with a lot of extra public works in order to find work for returning soldiers. As a matter of fact he already was about 3000 men short of the number, ho ought to liave on, public works at this time of tho year-, and he did not anticipate that oven when all tho men came back he would bo able to get at once enough men,to, bring his forco up to strength ' .
