HPHE LEAGUE, since the beginning -*■ of the War, has devoted itself wholeheartedly to the support of the -Government, and has refrained . from criticism 'which might embarrass the Admiralty v■ It is its intention to adhere to this policy during the continuance of the struggle; The League records its profound appreciation of the loyalty and-co-oper-ation of all its. branches at Home and Overseas, and acknowledges with gratitude the receipt of many large sums of money towards the relief of dependents of ■ Seamen of the Royal Navy and Mercantile Marine who have laid down their lives for King and Country. The League appeals to every British subject for continued confidence in, and support of, our SEA SERVICES, which, in the fulfilment of the .task entrusted to thenij will prove the determining factor in dictating terms of peace and liberating mankind from the aggression of Prussian Caesarism. The Navy League has. decided that its future policy shall be directed tovrards the achievement of the following objects:— 1. The dissemination among the peoples of the Empire and British subjects,in all parts of the world, of exact knowledge upon the provision and use of Sea Power as the keystone of, British National and Imperial Policy. 2. The advocacy of an all-powerful Navy, Air Force > and Mercantile Marine as the'factors .essential for the security of, the Empire and the restoration of Britain to her right--1 ful position .as Mistress of the Seas.. / '■ ■'". - :. ■ 3. The immediate reconstruction of our Mercantile tohnage to at least the pre-War. standard . before any foreign 4 orders for the building .of merchant ships are executed, and the demand that there shall be no transfer of British shipping to foreign owners or Flags until British mercantile supremacy shall have been restored. The application of steady pressure upon Parliament and the Government,, through the education of public opinion, for closer co-ordin-ation between the Royal Navy and the Mercantile Marine with a view to the exigencies of War. 5. The support of all just claims of officers and men of the Royal Navy with regard to pay, pensions and Prize Money. % 6. The stimulation of interest among the .teachers and children of all classes of schools in the Empire, in the Sea and Air Services as dominant factors in Imperial existence and prosperity. 7. The extension of the Boys' Naval Brigade Movement and the establishment of proper training./insti-j . tutioris" 'with, a view to the prepar-1 ation of boys for a sea career whenever posgib' b, for the elimination of alien? from the British '•'"• Mercantile Marine. . \ 8. The administration. of the. funds .provided at the instance of the League at.
