GOVERNMENT DOES NOT PAY UP.

DOCTORS UNPAID FOR EPIDEMIC

Wellington, April 9. Inqxiiries made by a reporter tB-day elicited the Jfact that none of fhe New Zealand, doctors wno worked on the block system: during .the epidemic have been paid; by the department yet. , The. position is that the Wellington doctors decided to charge the Government £10 10s per day for Ine period of the block system. The matter was hung up for a, long time, arid then an offer came from the Minister to pay £7 7s per day. The local branches of the Medical Association considered the offer and agreed to accept the offer provided the Government paid for petrol used, and that any medical man put to t the expense of hiring cars should be compensated. It is stated that the; doctors here have agreed to work on the block system,if there is a recurrence of..the epidemic, and they have also agreed to standardise the medicines required by sufferers in order to simplify treatment.
