HOW THE RESULTS WILL BE GIVEN.

I The poll on the liquor question will j'be taken to-day, the polling-places being open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The booths will be the same as those usetl at the general election^ with the addition of the City Council Chambers. Shops and hotels will be closed at noon; factories are not required to close,, but employees must be allowed reason-* able time in which to record their votes.) The "Returning Officer (Mr J. OPitzGerald) expects the first returns to come to hand before 7.30 o'clock. The proprietaries of "The Colonist"s and "Evening Mail" have made arrangements to display the results from th» Public Works Office in Trafalgar street.. The retnrns will also be shown at the Empire Theatre in conjunction with" the picture programme. : In connection with the results, persons are requested to refrain, unless, of course, there are special circumstances, from making inquiries by telephone at this office this evening, as the staff will be fully occupied in receiving the returns from ouiw sidp districts.
