MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

At a sitting of the Magistrate's Court i held at Brightwater :: before Mr, ,J. S. IVans, S.M., 'yesterday, Judgment /was given for plaintiff in the case of W. R. JM&y t G. W. Hall, claim for £2, with costs 6s. W. G. Anderson was charged by the ] police with making default in payment!. under two maintenance orders, and was i ordered to pay £1 per month, in de-i ■fault of payment of any instalment 7 days' imprisonment. ; R. H. Parkes and G. Williamson were! -charged with riding vehicles at night I \ without lights and were convicted and fined £1 and ordered to pay 7s costs I each. ~ , For the' same offence E. A. Burn was , ordered to pay court costs 7s. '! H./G. Field was charged with driving through' Richmond at more than 12 ' /mile? an hour and with going round acor- ' ncr at more than 6 miles an houri As ' he -was going for the doctor to attend an urgent case the defendant was convicted" and discharged on both charges. j Thomas Brennan, jun., charged vvit-.h driving a motor through Richmond ab more than 12 miles an hour, was con-i victed and fined £5 and to pay costs 75.! ,'Evidence for the prosecution showed; that defendant was travelling about S3 j ' mik)3 an hour. H.- Price, charged ' with failing .to clear foxglove, which ' was adjourned from Nelson, the Magis-1 4 trate convicted defendant and imposed - a-fine of £1 with costs. P. J. Higgins, ■ in a similar charge, was also fined £1 - and costs. - !
