LONGER QUARANTINE WANTED.

Wellington, April 6. - A deputation representing thirty-one trade unions to the Hon. Sir James Allen urged that the quarantine period be extended, .to seven days, and that adequate accommodation be provided for quarantining passengers and troops ashore where necessary. Sir James AII X *%o, plied that the quarantine period •iT^i-J? was tentative and it rested with the Health Department to extend it, and meanwhile he would not express any opinion. Fifteen hundred people could, be accommodated-on Motuihi by using tents. The transport workers' secretary said that the watersiders would refape to work-the Niagara unless she had seven days' quarantine.
