Christchurch, March 21. The Christchurch Boilermakers-, Plumbers' and Gasfitters', Iron and Brass Moulders', and Coachbuilders' Unions applied to the Arbitration Urart ior increased wages or bonuses on account of the increased c-ost of Imn.

The employers objected to accepting the Wellington award in the plumbers' and gasfitters' case, saying that Wellington was the lr.ost costiy place in the country, and wages were naturally high there.

The President said he would ask the Government Statistician to attend theCourt here and give statistics showing the increased cost in Christchurch.
