Speaking at Lvttelton on Monday .."night Mr R. -SempJe, M.P., referred to the statement he made at the Colosseum on Saturday night regarding his sym--Ipa thy for Bolshevism. Had he. been born and bred in Russia, he said, the environment v,-ould-have' forced him to be a-Bolshevist. In Russia women had .to'parade the streets bearing placards stating "We want breatt." In .such conditions he would have to go either for or against the mothers who begged broad, for their children, and he would certainly be on the side of those who had so to beg. The" Christchurch "Press," from which the foregoing rcnort.is'taken,: adds: "If-this is what Mr Scmpie- intended to say on Saturday tn'glit hv certainly did not convey that impression to the audience. We have] no.-doubt that Independent, evidence will.' be forthcoming to support the accuracy of ths newspaper reports of his Saturday's speech." -
