GERMANY'S ARMY
THIRTY DIVISIONS THE LIMIT
FURTHER ARMISTICE STIPULATIONS.
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association>
Paris, Feb. 19
The Council fixed thirty divisions with armament as the size of the army Germany will be allowed to maintain.
Marshal Foch's report indicated that Hindenburg was able to put sixty divisions in the field, with ample guns. Indeed, Germany to-day seems to possess nearly 25,000 machine guns.
Peace preliminaries 'are also included in the armistice. It is demanded that German soldiers be not allowed to enter a. fixed area along the western frontier. Thus France "will have a sort of "no man's land" always between the German hordes and herself.
