j SHEEP TICK. Some sheepowners believe tick can live away from sheep, but this is a mistaken idea, says the Victorian Dei Partment of Agriculture. I Ticks isolated die very soon, as experiments by Dr. Sweet and Messrs Seddpn and Hill, of the University veterinary School, show. ' Most of them were dead within tour days. Only 17 one of 351 were alive after seven days, and the Jn-st died within eleven days. "The practical lesson to be derived," says Mr. Robertson, "is that when an owner d;ns all his s^een in ai efficient dipping mixture, it is not difficult to clean his whole Mock. As the presence of ticks on sheep depreciates the value of ivool and carcase about 25,6 d per head, dipping is a paying proposition." But it must be a dip of unquestionable efficiency —such as Quibell's Powder Din—the favourite of all sne-ces-fui sheep owners.
