At Shoreditch a fire destroyed €hwsands of tons of grain, vast quantities of dairy produce and other, food, including eight million eggs. The "fire caused damage estimated at one and a half millions. Twenty private houses1 were destroyed, and m&ny .shops were^gutted. •
