SECONDARY SCHOOLS CADETS.

CAMP AT BURNHAM

(l<rom "Tho Colonist," Sept. 19th.) A camp of instruction for officers and non-commissioned officers of the Secondary Schools Cadets was held at tfurnharn Canterbury, from September 2nd to September 12th, and was attended by 165 cadets and five officers trom the various colleges and hi^h schools. During the course the greatest advantage was taken of the valuable services of Major J. A. .Wallingford, M.C,, who conducted the musKetry section of the course of instruction and imparted valuable information to thoie concerned. The camp commandant, Major W. C. Morrison, £1 4.5.C., arranged a visit to tho Sockburn Aviation School, where those in camp were greatly interested by the flights of the aviation students, and especially by the exhibition flight by *£? "Ktructor, Mr. C. M. Hill? In this flight he was accompanied by one or the aviation students, and wave excellent examples of banking, & diving etc. On returning to earth he was vociferously cheered by the cadets Iruly tnis was an instance of education through interest. The Burnham camp was visited by Colonel R A Chaff ey and Lieutenant-Colonel J L Sleeman, the Director of Military framing, the latter of whom gave-an inspiriting address to those in camp. Nelson team -retained the honour of being the. dinner—an honour which was also theirs at the only other camp nt this'v. type vthat they have attended, that at last. year at v Purau Bay. This year in "the final Nelson College defeated Christchurch Boys' High School by 10 points to 5.
