BUSHFELLING FATALITY.

A fata! accident occurred ill tbo Gowan Valley yesterday, a lad named Alexander Skillen, aged 18, being killed by a tree while engaged in bushfellmg. A tree that had been scarfed and left for a drive was unexpectedly forced* back Uphill by & breoze. and caught the unfortunate lad. From the nature of the imnries received, his death must have been instantaneous An inquest was heid at tkc residence of Mr l*ooJe by Mr Robert Win. Acting-Coroner, and a i"nr\- of fix, Mr Robert Marr being foreman After hearing the evidence of Mr I'oole, who was working with Skillen and of Dr. Warr.fFord, who made nn. examination of the body, the jury Tirmi'ihfc in a verdk-t that the decea'scd met Ir^- death through- being ftmck iv n ''ailing tree while engaged in biishfollini, no blame being attachable to ;i'ivr-nr>.
