BULB SHOW.

The St. Andrew's Church. Bulb Show was held on Saturday afternoon in the Foresters' Hall, Wakapuaka. The Mayor of Nelson (.Mr W. \V. Snodgrass) declared ,the show and .sale.opened, asking for generous support of the effort, as the objects for -.which the proceeds were used, the Bed Cross Fund and the St."Andrew's Church funds, were well worthy of the most liberal assistance. .

The show was beautifully arranged, and it was considered the best ever held at Wakapuaka., There were record entries, and all classes were well contested. It was the- first year that school children had entered for buttonholes, and 'in this class there v/ero over GO entries, and all the buttonholes were excellent. Mrs George Wastney's tronhy for school children was won by the Clifton Terrace School. The two other schools were unfortunate, as tTieir bulbs were not yet in bloom, in the decorative class there were a number of exhibits, and the radge pirs G. iverr) remarked that the exhibits reflected greatcredit on the exhibitors. Many had entered for the first time, and showed much promise for future occasions, as in each case the colour scheme and general arrangement was very effective. In the.domestic class there was a fine display of cakes, home-made breacF, pastry, etc. 'Mrs Levy, who indeed this class, said all the entries were of a very Irish, quality. Mr A. Day judged tile cut blooms, which, in-spite of the previous bad weather, were very .beautiful.. Artornoon tea was provided in a tent next to the hall, and was well patronised. _ Altogether the show was of a very high order, and the promoters are to be congratulated on their efforts and the record attendance from the neighbouring district and the city.
