LADY LIVERPOOL FUND.

(From "The Colonist," Sept. 3rd.)

The monthly meeting of the Lady ■Liverpool Committee was held yesterday afternoon.in the H.B. room. There was a'fair .attendance, and Mrs W. Look presided. Correspondence was read from Major Greene, Officer in Command of the New. Zealand Gift-Section, London, acknowledging the receipt of 31 cases of gift goods, and stating that they were forwarded to the Ist Canterbury Infantry Battalion, France. A letter was read from Major Murehison, in which was a statement of their squadron funds for three months, and it Vas pointed out that all of the money v:os spent on stores. He said: "I have previously, acknowledged and thanked your committee for the jensies and ""the last/draft/ of £60. Owing to being continually on the move, we have not been able to &pond so much as we would have done had we been near canteenSj but during the nest two months we will have to spe?id a great deal more, as the heat of the Jordan Valley is very trying, and, the only way to keep our men fit,is by buying plenty of fruit and milk for them, both of which articles are now vary expensive. The £60 every quarter is ample, but I will undertake that all is spent on the men and none wasted."

Mrs Lock tendered her resignation as president of the committee, owing to a xule adopted by the Red Cross Society to the effect that no member of its committee should act as an official i'or two different -funds. She said she whs very reluctant to do this, but she felo that the Red Cross needed her energies, and she was satisfied in the thought! that the Lady Liverpool Fund was on a pound financial basis for some .time to come.

It was resolved, "That this committee accepts the resignation of Mrs WLock with great regret, ana. places on record its appreciation of the valuable services rendered -to the committee during' the period she has occupied ■ tho office of president." ''/■•' '
