PURCHASING POWER OF MONEY.
The value of the sovereign, or ratbcipound note, for sovereigns are scarce nowadays, is gradually decreasing, and the following table shows the amounts required to purchase in the towns mentioned in the Jiyie quarters of 1917 and 1918 what would have cost twenty shilling in the. average-of--the'four centres in^iaOO-13. Tho figures apply to the food groups :—
