In the Viceroy's Council, Sir William Meyer moYfd a resolution that India should take"% larger share in raising and financing the military^ forces. He proposed that she should recruit another half million men and take over; the cost of 200,000 morcf men, raising the army for which India pays to 360,000, aaid so relieve the British Governmont. Certain other changes are proposed, totalling 35 millions sterling during the next two years, in addition, to ton millions for pension charges.
