Wellington, Sept. 6. The Acting-Premier, with tiie Hems'. ,W. 1). S.3iacDonald and D. 11. Gutluie, yesterday had a conference with the representatives of cheese and butter interests. The delegates asked that the Homo representatives of butior and cheese producers should be recognised in regard to negotiations for the purchase of New Zealand choose and buster by the Imperial authorities. They also asked the reason for the delay in settling the price of butterJ and pointed out th-ii- ii: tlt\J matter was not settled r.oon, there might bo difficulty in financing tha industry, owing to 'the large quantity of 'butter held"in ptorc in New Zealand, upon which, pending, a scttlemeni, r.a advance could he secured. The Acting-Premier replied that" Mr Massey had "consulted Mr JiHlison,'-re-garding the negotiations, and had instructed the High Commissioner to introduce him to the British Pood Controllev. This had been done. Sir .Tames Allen said ho hoped the price of butter vv.quld soon be settled, so that financial difficulty might not arise-j-. but if it did arise, the Government, realising the magnitude of the industry, Mould give every consideration to the problem.
