RED CROSS ENTERTAINMENT.

Notwithstanding counter - attractions and the inclemency of the weather, there was a large and appreciative audience at the Theatre Royal last evening, when an entertainment was given in aid of the Red Cross Fund. Tho first part of the programme consisted of ; a of dances by the pupils of ! Miss1 Molly Peck and the-youthful per- |. formers acquitted themselves very creditably indeed. Alt-the dances were ye gracefully executed, and the dancers were not only warmly appiauded, but in many cases encored. Floral tributes and chocolates were also show ered on the performers.,,'. Maitland ; and a ballet, "A Forest Fantasy j" in which the following performers took part .-—Fairies, B. Leggo, C. Fell, S. Steward, H. Macfarlane, M. Home, a.™^ I. Maitland; peasants, B. Humphries, E. Lancaster, E. Pharazyn, E. riunter-brown, M. Rout, M. Yvash- | bourn, I>. St. John, and E,-Newman. |The solo dances were M. Home and B. Humphries. Miss Molly Peck won a well-deserved encore for her skilful execution of a toe dance, and later" was accorded a- similar compliment for her interpretation of a .Russian dance entitled "The Invitation." The second part opened with a short comedietta entitled "Between the Soup and the. Savoury," in which the parts were taken by Miss J. Tomlinson as Maria, the cook; Mrs Moynihan as Ada,, the 'parlourmaid- and Miss Nive-n as Emily, the kit-chenmaid. The characters were well sustained:, but unfortunately, owing to the heavy, rain at the time,' some of the dialogue could not be heard. The remainder of the programme consisted of vocal and instrumental items, which earned appreciative applause. They included an instrumental trio "Novellettes" (Gade), by Misses Jndson, Flett and Fairhall; song, "Morning and You" (Florence Aylward), Miss Dorothy Fairhall; yiolin solo, "Hun?, gariau Dance" (Dudla), Miss Eileen Louisson; mtisical monologues by Mr F. McCabe; and an instrumental trio, Schubert's Serenade. , An orchestra comprising Mrs Yernon Rout (piano). Misses Fairhall, Flett, Louisson and Mrs Innes (violins), and Mr T. Louisson (flute) rendered excellent service.,
