Paris, Sept. 4. The.latest news states that the Bril tish are fighting in the suburbs of Lens. ;It is believed that the enemy will be 'unable-longer to= defend the town. I Oenerai: Marigin's army, after three days' hard fighting,, reached the plattjau- dominating ■ the valley of the iiilette, ■,hehind the Chemin-des-Dames; whence iijhe" citadel of Laon can be seen. I The French have also an extended view over the German rear supply roads.
