Newmarket Day at«the Victoria Racing Club's meeting evoked great interest, partly on account of the presence of a. noted New Zealander, and partly owing to the openness of the big event. The results of the racing were* as follows :— ■
Pines Hurdles .-.KinLtrkl, Single .Barrel; 2,' Kalwyk 3. Twentyvone started. Won by a short head. Time, 3.485. St. Leger: Prince Viridis 1, Bronzeth 2, Broken Glass 3. Also ra»: Thrice and Duntulm. Won by half a head.
Newmarket Handicap: Cetinge 1, Poitrina 2, Wedge 3. Scratch: Amanus and Amadis. A good finish. Won by half a length. Potracia was fourth. Time, 1.135. Sires' Produce Stakes:. Palm Leaf 1, Outlook 2, Liquid Fire 3. Eight starters..'"The. winner led all the way and won by J--| tengths. Time, 1.1/ss-. " Essendon Stakes: Wallace Isinglass 1, Lanms 2, Lingle 3. * The only starters. Won by., three-quarters of a length. Time,*2".l7s.
