NELSON JOCKEY CLUB.

ANNUAL RACE MEETING

Given fine weather, the Nelson Jockey Club's annual race meeting, which commences on Wednesday at .Richmond Park, promises to be most successful.: Already a number of North Island sportsmen have arrived to assist at the gathering, and the Pateena on Saturday morning brought fourteen horses, aniong them being Prince Delaware, Waimatao, Good Hope Pariform, Kiite&s, Trickery, Skedaddle, Silk Ribbon, ! Rienzi, Black Heath', and Imaribbon. Mascot and Exclusive, with other Trentham horses, are expected to-morrow. The West Coast contingent arrived last week. The course at Richmond Park is in splendid order, and presents a busy appearance every morning. It will be noted that this year the first event each day starts at 11.30 a.m. instead of noon. This has beea rendered necessary in order to fit in. with the usual railway timetable, the department having declined to meet the convenience of the public by putting on special trains. The Mayor invites citizens to observe Wednesday as a holiday from 11 a.m.
