CORRESPONDENCE.

BROWN ROT.

(To the Editor of "The Colonist.")

Sir, —In my letter on brown rot in your issue of last Wednesday, I notice that a rather serious error has crept in. On line 40 of the second paragraph it reads: "The conidia arc really sexual spores." This is fcho very opposite of what was intended. What it should have read was: ''The conidia are really asexual spores." As the word "asexual" is a scientific word used to elenote spores that are formed without sexual means, it might very easily have been overlooked by ymir reader. Trusting you will pardon -me for again using your valuable space. -.■■/

I am, etc., G. BIUTJ.TN Umukuri, February 28th.
