THE CARD SYSTEM.
(Received March, 1, 11.20 p m.) Sydney, March 1. The Royal Commissioner inquiring into tte card system in the railway, workshops, found it necessary to svb-J poena representatives of the union j, who declined to attend voluntarily.
Their evidence showed that the reason for striking was fear that the card system meant the introduction of thei American speeding-up system and ottes vile effects. One witness said thatj another objection was the introduction1 of the most up-to-date system in tiio most out-of-date workshops.
