Mr. W. H. Price, formerly marager of the local branch of the Union Steam Ship Company, is at present on a visit to Nelson, and is staying at tie Masonic Hotel.
Mr P. A. Dickson, of the Church of Christ, Nelson, is on a visit to the Takaka district.
The death occurred at Nelson on Thursday of Mrs Bradley (nee Goodall), wife of Private R. J. *H. Bradley, oi 5 Riwaka, now on active service. The deceased leaves a, family of two small children.
Mr E. J. Edwards, of the Blenheim office of the Public Works Department, has received notice of promotion to the position of chief clerk in the State Coalmines office, Greymouth.
"News has been received that Private Len Godsiff, son of Mr D. H. Godsitf, sheepfarmer, Waitaria Bay, Kenepura Sound, has been awarded the Military Medal. This young soldier left New Zealand with one of the later reinforcements, and has been on active service on the Western front for over a year. His brother Jack was killed there about two years ago.
Sergeant C. W. Bishop, reported killed in action, was the eldest son of the Rev. E. Bishop, of Morrinsville. Likt> other members of this family, the late Sergeant Bistop was a Main Body man, and belonged to Wellington Mounted Rifles. He went through practically the whole of the Gallipoli campaign* up till the day of evacuation. Subsequent^' he was in engagements in Palestine, principally at Gaza, Raia, and Jerusalem. He probably met his death in the recent operations at Jericto.
