The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has1 received the following cablegram, dated London, 9th February, 1918, from the High' Commissioner for New Zealand. (Noto. —Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on •spot):— . : ..... ■■ ..
Meat: All-descriptions of meat continue in active demard•■owing to short supply. Small supplies of Home-killed-mutton and beef. Supplies consist chiefly of New Zealand lamb and American and Canadian beef, all at maximum prices.
Bu.tter and cheese: Small supply at maximum prices. French and Danish butter, no import trade at present, but resumption of importation Danish anticipated in consequerce of negotiations progressing" between Governments. ,
Hemp: Manila market shows no change.. New- Zealand, demand •is chiefly for parcels already slipped and on spot. High point has sold at auction this week at £96 15s.
Wheat and oats: Market quiet and prices unchanged. Small supply. ;
