A largely attended meeting of .the Tasinan iTriiitgrow'ers' Association •-ana; shareholders in the Co-operative Com-! pany was held on Wednesday evening, Mr "Hugh Thompson presiding. I It was resolved to write to all other associations of fruitgrowers in the lVlbu--fcere Hills district, with a view to secur- • ing their co-operation,in the establish-j ment of a local advisory committee of j fruitgrowers and a boar-d. of •■■trustees to: ■ivock'. in--conjunction -with the 'National EfficJtency. Allport had resigned his position as^a dii'ector of the Wew Zealand iFruitgrbwers' Federation, and that Mr F. &. iNouage iiau .Ooun uoiiiuiateci" ior the vacancy with the support of every fruitgrowers' association-in the district, butter some reason no appointment ha-d been made, and JS'elson, the largest fruitgrowing district in the Dominion, was riow without a representative on the board. A -strongly worded letter of pz-o-test was drafted, to bo sent to the Federation executive. ' Mr T. C. C. Scott wrote accepting the association's invitation to deliver a. lecture- at Tasman. Arrangements for the lecture wore ieftin the hands of the executive. Mr H. Benzies reported that he had made inquiries as to the establishment of a cemetery reserve at Tasman, and the executive were instructed to procure a copy of the Cemeteries Act, ldJS } and to "make application to the Waimea County Council-in proper form. Messrs A. P. Allport and W. B. Griffin, managing director and manager respectively of the Co-operative Company, were present, and addressed the meeting, r/ivimr. details as to the- rules to 1 feer followed in connection with the gra<3iri.u' and picking of fruit for the co»----gacy's packing eheds for the coming season.
