RAILWAY CROSSING FATALITY.

Ghristchurch, Jan. 26. An accident pecurred at the Styx railway crossing on the main North road this morning, a motor car containing live persons colliding with the Northbound train. The driver, James Ashworth, aged 73, a farmer, of Saltwater Creek, escaped with a few scratches. His three adult daughters ail received cuts and bruises. Mrs Ashworth, aged 74, received the most serious injuries, her right arm being nearly torn off above the wrist. Mrs Ashworth and her daughters were taken to the Christelr.irch Hospital, where Mrs Ashworth died, soon after her arrival. One daughter," May, suffered severe injuries to her leg, and an operation has been found necessary. Elizabeth received injuries to her chest and Jane injuries to her arm. They are progressing favourably.
