Auckland, Jan. 26. The Takapuna Jockey Club's summer meeting^ opened to-day iv tine, dull weather, with a very large attendance. Totalisator, £41,279, as against £33,981 10s on the corresponding day last yeai. Results:—
Trial Handicap, 1 mile 1 furlong:' xl)' Keystone 1, 3 Step 2, 1 Mangamauoe 'i. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time, 1.57. Zealandia Handicap, 7 furlongs: 4 Munstei- 1, 6 Stilts 2, 2 White Blaze h. Two and a half lengths; a short head. Time, 1.29 1-5. Hauraki Maiden Hurdles, U miles: 1 Ditto 1, 2 Pienipotent 2, 4 The Channel 3. Won by four lengths. Time, 2.51. Takapuna Cup, li miles: Glenopal i, 5 Mullingar 2 6 Uncle Ned 3. Also started: 1 Polydamon, 2 Cynic, 3 Colonel Soult, 7 British Arch, 6 Housewife, 9 Sir Ralph, 10 Royal Irish, 11 Signo, 12-Lady Energy. The winner led all the way, and won nicely bjr a length and a half. Uncle Ned, who iinished fast, was a .neck away. Time, I 2.36 2-5.
Ferry Handicap, 5 furlongs: o Gold Kip 1/ 3 Caballero 2, 2 Silvasco 3. A length and a quarter: a neck. Time, 1.3. '
Calliope Handicap, 5 furlonogs: 5 Silver Link 1, 2 Spanner (coupled with Hineamaru and Taiamai) 2, 3 Biiining Ligtit 3. Won by a length and a half. Time, 1.2.
Orewa Hurdles, about If miles: 4 TeOnga 1, 1 Tenacious 2, 2 Gfleudalougii 3. Takanini and Orispeen fell, and the former broke a Jeg and had to be destroyed. Won by two lengths. Time, 3.18. Stewards' Handicap, 6 furlongs: 9 Fioimuala- 1, 3 Oardrona 2, 2 Rekanui 3. A short head; three-quarters of a length.
