Sir John Wolfe-Barry was born in 1336,. being the- son of Sir Charles Barry, R.A. He assumed tho additional name of Wolfe in 1898. He was educated at King's College, London. He was consulting engineer to many railway und other companies, and Kerved on a largo number of Royal Commissions dealing with technical ■questions. He was- a past president of tne insriLutiim of Civil Engineers, and at the time of iis death Governor of the i Imperial College of Science und Technology, chainriiip. of the executive committee of Lhe City and Guilds of Lon- ■ don Institute and" the British ■;Engineering Standards Committee, and a member of the oxooutivo committee'of tho National Physical Laboratory, besides various other pub lie appointments.'
