Of the many letters of appreciation and thanks the following are a few: Mrs Melland writes: "Will you please' tell the subscribers and workers in Mo-1 fcueka and district, also in Stanley Brook and the little girls in Riwaka, that it was with the greatest pleasure my daughter and 1 unpacked the "Turakina" box this evening.- It was so excellently packed and wired that everything seemed undisturbed and the case had not been opened. There were many exclamations of admiration, gratitude, and delight as wo lifted out one bundle after the other and thought of how many good and deserving people, big and little, were going to be made comfortable and happy this winter. There were so many garments oil lovely new flannel—the bundles of woollies! My daughter and 1 had just been bemoaning the fact .that we had about come to the end of our knitted knickers for babies. The overalls, frocks, little coats, boys' knickers, and all the many other splendid garments which helped to fill the case! Winter is coming on, and the dreaded scarcity of coal, but to many children that won't matter when they get that beautiful new flannel or woollies next their skin. You have just given two delicate little girls a delightful holiday in the country in Derbyshire. They had never been in the country before, and certainly would not have had this great treat if you had not given it them, being far too poor. Yon have also given three little children aged seven and three years and a baby a, week at Barrow Farm."

The secretary, British and Foreign Sailors' Society, writes to Mns Melland: "I have just unpacked the two sacks of clothing which you so kindly sent for passengers and crews .of torpedoed vessels. I caniiot tell you how very grateful I am, and I only wish it was possible for you to know more of the 'gratitude of these unfortunate victims of German brutality who are taken to our homes at all hours of the day and night in a amished, dying, half-clothed condition." This was in acknowledging a contribution from our Motueka box. The lion. secretary. Women's Suffrage Society, writes: (:1 wish to thank the ladies of Motueka district and Stanley Brook for the delightful present of children's garments which we have received through our central organisation. I have been a bio to givs them to women who arei very poor, one whose husband is at thei front and has six children'and another expected in December. They were much touched when I told them who sent the clothes, and full of admiration for the work and the patterns of the garments.'' Similar letters were received from tiie Church Army and the Childi rons Clothing Society!
