Sergeant Wohlman, who conducted the case for the police, said that Winifred Carrick, mother of the child, who is now on remand charged with its wilful murder, had declined to attend the inquiry, as also had her solicitor. Evidence was given that the child was asleep in its bed at 9 p.m. on Friday. The Coroner returned, a verdict that the cause of death was laceration of tho brain, the result of wounds inflicted by some person or pereons, and that there was no evidence who such person ox 1 persons were.
