KOHATU.

The annual school concert and dance I Avas held on Friday, the 7th iust. Pro- i ceedingu were commenced with the \ playing of the National Anthem, The following items were contributed by the -\ pupils:—Ah operetta entitled "The Bee Queen"; pianoforte duet, Misses Elaine Cole and Iteta Ooleman; song, "Ten ■; Little Nigger Boys" (ten pupils); doll's song; Highland ting, Len Harford;, song and dance, Misses Margaret and Janet North; recitation, Miss Janet North; .song, "Every Nation has & Flag but the Coon" ; and-'march. Each item' was well received, and'reflected great' credit upon the teacher, Miss M. Mal-j loy. Miss Millie Coleman played the accompaniments. Other items were contributed by Messrs Bromell (recitations), Francois (songs), -and North. During the evening prizes were distributed by the ■chairman ? Mr J. Schwass. Good attendance certificates wero also gained by the following:—T. Gibbs, Hoy Ooleman, 11. Schwass, C. Coleman, K. Coleman, O. Coleman, and N. Coleman. On,behalf of the senior pupils, Miss Thelma Gibbs read a neat little address, and Miss Elsie Allen presented Miss Malloy with a silver teapot, suitably, inscribed, as a mark of the esteem in which she is held by them. Miss Mafloy suitably replied. The concert was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem, and was followed: by dancing. ;
