.j.United Pbkbs Association.] > Whakatane, Dec. 12. The new freezing works at Whakatano were opened yesterday by tiie Prime Minister in the presence of a lar^e .aatheving, including the lions. W. Fraser, W. H. Herries, W. D. B. Mac Donald, T. Ngata, and Sir James Carroll. Speaking at a dinner in the evening, Mr Massey predicted a big future for Whakatane. Mr Horries. referring to the Urewern Country, said' the Government had now j purchased 230,000 acres of .Native land ; there, and more still was being acquired. They had now purchased m- ' interests in all the main accessible ; blocks.
