Tho Hr,-nan independent forces, reinforced from Kwang-tung an<3 Kwang-si, captured Hongshang after a, two days' battle. Several Governors urge the Govern* ment to agree to a compromise. It is' reported that the British Minister also recommended a compromise. Premies Tuang-hi-jui refuses to .concede more. Northern troops l:ave been despatch* ed to Hu-nan.
