SATISFACTORY PROGRESS AT HOUTHULST WOOD.

The British and Trench have relieved the offensive with very successful results. Eastward of 1/oelcapelle the British captured several strongly h^ld redoubts, and north, in conjunctioa with the French,, they took "the southern defences of Houthulst Forest and a further series of fortified farni9 and strong points. Th^ enemy's losses were heavy. The Erench bunched an offensive on the Aisne, aad the attack is .developing- satisfactorily. Ifort de M*lmalon and all the high ground objectives were secured, Laon Plain now lying before the if reach. Over 7000 prisoaers were captured. The Germans are shown to have lost a number of warships in the Iliga Gulf operations, and many more were put\out of action.
