THE WOOL CLIP.
Speaking in the House of lleprescntatives v/ith regard to wool, the Hon. W. D. Mac Donald said the system last! year had been to issue licenses to men i who bought small lots from the farm-' |er:v, and the wool had to be delivered jto certain brokers, who we're nominated as agents on behalf of the county. He ; thought that the same course would be, followed tins year. The Government ' had ottered on behalf of the Imperial; Government a- price, to ho ascertained ;by valuation, of tho whole of tho wool clip, so that, any farmer could send his wool to a port where it would he valued and assessed in store. If thero |v.ere portions of the clip that should bo sent 'to scouring work.-i for treatment, that w;ks arranged, but the whole of the clip was sold to the Imperial Government m the grease. He realised the importance bi: the wool-s-coining industry, and had arranged that as far a/s possible the Government.! m dealing witli the clip should follow normal lines. Clients of companies wove allowed to consign to those companies as usual,— and pieces could be. sent to the scouring'works in the usual way. That arrangement was beiiig carried out. -The Government had considered the position of the fell'monger-. ing Avorks vo'y carefully, and one-, rea-' fou why the freezing works were'shut out from competition in fellmongering and scouring was the -Government's decision that private woo] and Government wool must net be mixed .".t the securing, works. • . • ' :
