Mr Justice Sim, sitting in banco today, heard the application of John McLaughlan, carrier, Waimangaroa, for a writ of mandamus to compel Thomas Hutchison, S.M., and the..members of the Buller Licensing Committee to hear and determine his application for a piiblican's license in respect o.i! premises known as the Postr Office Hotel. Waimangaroa. Tho application was granted. His-Hcraour held that, as the 'application -came before tho committee 'at its annual meeting, and was adjourn-, to the quarterly meeting by tho committee on its own motion, it must be treated as having been adjourned to the adjourned annual meeting, and the meeting' of- September 12di war. a continuation of the annual meeting. The defendants were not present or represented nt the Court. The plaintiff's application was before the committee at the annual meeting on June sth, but was adjourned by the committee to permit certain repairs to be .effected to tlie premises.
