The long and intimate, connection '.between the Cable Bay staffs and tho late Mi- John Gay, and of later years his son, Mr Herbert Gay, is well known in tie city. The appreciation of the good service rendered has taken tangible ,'form .in;, the-.presentation to MiHerbert Gay of a silver tea and coffee service bearing the inscription: "Presented to Herbert Gay as a mail' nf appreciation from the Cable -.Bay mess." This handsome present was forwarded to Mr Gay from "Wellington after the removal of tlio-cable-staff to Uiat city.
