BACK FROM THE FRONT.

(From "The Colonist," Sept. 20th.) Two returned soldiers, Privates N. W." Wadsworth and Waterhouse^ arrived yesterday morning by tne Mapourika. Private Wadsworth is suffering from severe shell wound in the left arm, and Vm'ate Water house has been suffering'from pleurisy. The Mayor (Mr W. W. Snodgrass) welcomed the men on tho arrival of tho steamer.

September 21st. Four returned soldiers arrived in Nelson yesterday by the- Pateenu, and were met by the Alayor (Mr Sno3grass) and1 tho secretary of the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund (Mr H. Saunders). Tho men were exceedingly cheerful and fit considering their injuries. Their names and injuries arc as follows: J. Hoy, gunshot wound, left leg; A. W. Mead, gunshot wound, back of hip; B. S. Stafford, gunshot wound, right leg; S. R. Webby, gunshot wound through the head, destroying sight of right eye. ■:. ■ ■ September 29th. A Mam Body soldier, Sergeant Waiter Watson, son of Mr R. Watson, has returned to Nelson. Sergeant Watson was severely wounded in the Battle of Flers, and spent several months in hospital in England. He now looks well, and appears to be making a good recovery. Sergeant Watson, when returning to New Zealand, came across his brother Noel, bound for England on a transport. Sergeant William T. i Watson, another son of Mr R. 'Watson, AvhO is serving -with/the Australians'; has received a commission.

October lflfc, Sergeant-Instructor E: J. Jiaigent, of Wakefield, who ha 3 returned to New Zealand for a commission, arrived in Nelson on Saturday. Sergeant Baigent went away with the Main Body. Other soldiers who reached Nelson on. Saturday were: Rifleman I. J. Wollstoin, son ot' Canon Wollstein; Private F. H. Holyoake, of Riwaka; Private W. Mann, Riwaka; and Private H. E. Newson, Riwt.ka. The „ returned soldiers were met and welcomed by the president and secretary of tho Sick and Wounded Soldiers 1 Fund Society.
