MINES IN THE PACIFIC.

FIELD DISCOVERED OFF AUSTRALIAN COAST. WARNING TO SHIPPING. Melbourne, Oct. 16. Further mines have been discovered on the Australian coast. Air-Cook- announced that minesweepers' operations revealed a minefield five miles south of Gobo Island, laid in deep water and in an open situation. Probably some had.-been dragged from thqir, original position. Long operations, would bo-necessary to ensure that-all the mines were destroyed. Mr Cook warns shipping that there is no danger provided masters carefully; adhere to route orders.
