SICK AND WOUNDED SOLDIERS' FUND.

The usual monthly meeting of the Advisory Board of the Nelson Sick and Wounded Soldiers and their Dependents' Fund Society (incorporated) was held last evening in the Mayor's room. Present: Messrs W. W Snodgrass tchairman), H. Everett, J. A. Wallace, D. Edwards K. P. ililey, llev. VV. Baumber, Messrs James Hunt, C. J. Harley, E. J. Allen, J. H. Cock, Mrs Crawford, and the secretary. An apology was received from Mr I. Tunnicliife. A number of applications for temporary relief from returned men requiring assistance to carry on thoir farms, were dealt with. A number of straight-out grants were made in necessitous caßes to returned men, A giant of £5 was made to a patient in the Nelson Hospital. Mr Hunt reported that the Richmond branch of the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund had decided to hand its funds over to the Nelson Fund, with a request that the money be used for relief of distress in the Richmond district. . • «£-It was left with the secretary to arrange for a cab to convey soldier outpatients of tho Nelson Hospital to the Hospital daily. Arrangements will be made f6r the cab to leave a certain place at a stated time, for the use of these patients, whoKwili bo informed of the arrangement. The Blenheim patriotic scheme for the repatriation of returned soldiers was discussed at length, and it was decided that, as the.1 scheme was too elaborate and extravagant, and would put the country to enormous expense, the Nelson society could not support it at the Central Advisory Board meeting at Wellington. The treasurer (Mr E. J. Allen) read a statement of the f nnd's financial position at July 31st, 1917. Several accounts were passed for payment. "
