Zealand War Contingent Association^ , Lord Plunket said that all applications jto his association received full conj skleration, and he was not aware of j anything asked for having been deelin:ed, but it had to be remembered that I the work of the association could only !be carried out where it had the full ,' sanction and approval of the New Zeajland military authorities, and whefo jthey expressed an opinion the associaition had to conform with it. Tdmlinson) reported as follows:— ■ ' 'The sum of £500 has been cabled to j headquarters during the month, i Amongst the country branches, Spring ' ( Grove has been very energetic. Two very successful functions, an afternoon tea and a Christmas tree, benefited the- lied Cross by £41 1&; 4d. Of this amount the sum of £40 was remitted to the Nelson Centre and £1. 10s 4d donated to the Soring G)ove Bed Cross Sewing Guild. This is a very small district, but it is most generous in the manner it helps all Red Cross efforts. Of other extra efforts in country districts, Korcre sent in a sum of £4 12s 9d, the proceeds of a social and dance; Happy Vullfiv £4 8s 9d, proceed.* of euchra parties: Brightwater, half-proceeds of social, £4; dances at Applebv and Redwood's Valley. £1 and 16s .6d respectively ; the Tapawera do^ trials, £8 2s. | The Maruia Sports Club, Murchison, jsent p- donation of £10 14s 6d.
