This-play tells the story of I'eggy j (played "by Marguerite Clarke), a found- : lmg who is adopted by a philosopher in the hope that she will cno day develop into an ideal wife for him. Mark Embury is the name of the scientist and dreamer, who has come to -the conclusion that the girls of his town are too frivolous to make good wives. He chooses Peggy from a number of children sent him from a foundling home, tinder his well-thought-oat plan of education and culture Peggy gradually grows into a beautiful girl with keen intellect and a noble heart. But in laying his. unique plan the professor has forgotten to reckon with youth Peggy meets and loves Captain George Lovell, but ou finding him apparently false to her gees to her guardian and confesses her love for the younger man. . Embury, who has grown to love her very dearly, is face to face with a great I temptation. He knows her lover to be true but is tempted to leave matters as they are and take advantage of- the situation. His final decision makes an absorbing and touching finish to the | story.'
