AUSTRALIAN WHEAT.

Wellington, May 18. The statement cabled from Melbourne that the rion. VV. I). S. MacDohald had bought a million and a half bushels of Australian wheat at 5s 6d per bushel f.0.b., on behalf of New Zealand, has caused surprise in local circles. It does not appear to have 'been expected, by merchants that Mr Mac Donald would have to pay so much.
