SHORTAGE OF COAL.
WELLINGTON GAS COMPANY.

Wellington, May 18. The Wellington Gas Company announces that it has barely a fortnight's supply of coal ir> hand. Chving to a shortage of stocks it has been compelled to use' its reserve supplies, which have been lying on the ground for years, and these give inferior gas. It is hoped to shortly land a shipment of- coal that would last an additional ten or twelve daj's, but the position is very uncertain.
