At tho Patriotic Society's Air/ar dinner at" Wellington, the vhairman (Mr T..M. WHford, M. V.I) told a good story of a returned Anzac soldier in "civic" clothes who was riding iji a crowded Sydney tramcar. A lady sot in, and the Anzac, ever courteous, rose and said, "Take a seat, madam." "I never take the seat.'of a shirker," she replied freezmdy. The Anzae thereupon opened hi« shirt, and vhowiu" two wounds, paid. "Madam I hare lieon at Galiipoli. ' n; we had had as n-ucli powder at Gallipoll as you have tfot on your face we would have Constantinople."" (Laughter.)
